Access Point Baby Boom
Here at Access Point we’re experiencing what can only be described as a baby boom!
Two of our lovely ladies are already on maternity leave, with another three to follow over the next few weeks (myself included) and not to leave out one dad with paternity duties due not long after that. That’s six babies in 12 months, some feat for a team of less than 50.

It’s safe to say, there’s something in the water at the Old Courthouse but having previously achieved a Promoting Parenting Award, Access Point are well equipped to manage the influx of hormones and the flexibility that might be required for our mums (and dads) to be.
"The ongoing support throughout my pregnancy has been amazing. I haven’t had the easiest pregnancy and have been in and out of hospital and feeling really sick. The management and directors have been really understanding and you get a real feeling that they are genuinely concerned.
"I felt like my sickness was starting to affect my productivity so they set regular meetings to make sure I was feeling OK and reassure me that they are fully behind me. I will be sad to leave for my maternity break but it’s good to know that they are doing everything to make sure my account is in safe hands and all ready for my return!" Many of our team have worked with us for 10 years or more, maturing with the company and so it was to be expected that they will become parents at some point. We consider ourselves to be a work family, so it’s only right that we support our parents-to-be in order to ensure that our valuable talent continue to do their best work.
The parent friendly policies we have in place include:

More than our legal requirements though, the support we give as a company includes an understanding that you might be off your game a little when it’s teething time or that you might need an early finish so you can make it to sports day…even if you are the grandma. These are little things that can mean the world to our staff, keeping them engaged and committed to the business and its overall performance.
That’s all great news for our parents (and grandparents!) but what about the business that’s about to lose 10% of its workforce? Recruitment, recruitment, recruitment!
Our HR manager Louise has been busy trying to find replacements, some temporary and some permanent; not least for her own maternity cover, which in itself was maternity cover for Kasha….I told you, there’s definitely something in the water!

As for me, this is baby No 2 so I can start my maternity leave in a few weeks time knowing my teams both at home and in work are fully taken care of.
