Tesco grows market share for first time since 2011
Britain’s biggest supermarket chain Tesco grew its market share for the first time in five years after three-month sales rose 1.3% in the 12 weeks to October 9, according to Kantar data.
Dave Lewis, the boss behind Tesco’s turnaround plan has focused on streamlining the business and this month reported a 0.6% rise in UK half-year like for likes. He stated “Sales growth has been strongest among family shoppers, while improved trading from its larger supermarket stores”.
Tesco’s market share growth shows that its fightback against the rise of discounters Lidl and Aldi is working, with shopping won over by its lower prices, enhanced product ranges and better customer service.
With over 650 high footfall stores available, Tesco is a fantastic location for promotional events that can directly interact with thousands of consumers face to face.
