Tesco in Lincolnshire help parents shop and kids eat healthily
A Tesco store in Lincolnshire has been praised for its commitment to being family friendly and supporting healthy eating by offering free fruit to parents for their children while they shop. The Tesco in Brigg supplied a crate of fruit alongside a notice for parents:
Please feel free to take a piece of fruit on us for your children to eat whilst you shop.
We would like to encourage healthy eating and make your shopping trip that bit easier.
Enjoy your day and thank you for shopping at Tesco Brigg!!"
Tesco shopper Vicci Skinn posted a photo to Facebook of the notice next to a large crate of fresh fruit including grapes, strawberries, apples and pears. Since then it has attracted more than 58,000 likes and been shared more than 7,000 times. Tesco responded to the picture “Hi Vicci. This is fantastic to see! I'm glad you appreciate the free fruit our store offers. I've fed back your comments to my colleagues in the store's management”
Tesco have been promoting healthy eating in many of their stores through the introduction of things like sweet-free checkouts, replacing them with healthier treats like dried fruit and nuts.
