The end of the countdown – Access Point is off to Vietnam!

Mai Chau Vietnam

For weeks now we’ve been busy getting ready to send off nine members of Access Point on the team building trip of a lifetime, No kayaking on a freezing cold pond outside of town, or awkward trust exercises in a conference room off the M25. No, our team is in Vietnam to explore this beautiful country and help build a toilet and shower block for a kindergarten in rural Mai Chua.

The project stemmed from an expedition last year by Access Point’s management team to Kiruna in Sweden where they ice fished, slept in igloos and dog sled in the Arctic wilderness. All for the purpose of bringing the senior team together, to understand what made them different from each other and work well together. It also allowed for far greater personal development and opened them up to achieving greater growth and development within the company than they could have ever got in the office conference room.

Access Point has always placed immense value in our wonderful and unique staff, so extending this successful experiment to the rest of the team was a natural progression. It will allow them to learn new skills in a challenging new environment while bringing all of Access Point’s different departments together.

In addition to this, the six days they spend in Mai Chua to the South West of Hanoi will be spent building a toilet and shower block for a kindergarten there. It will mean that the team can leave something behind them hopefully for generations to come, improving the health and lives of all of the people who will generously be sharing their homes with them for the duration of the trip.

It won’t all be hard work however; there will also be cave trips, night fishing and the chance to explore Hanoi while they’re there so they can soak up as much of this hugely vibrant and diverse county as possible.

It’s a fantastic chance for all members of the team to learn new skills in a challenging environment while bringing all of Access Points different departments together. It won’t all be hard work, there will be also be cave trips, night fishing and the chance to explore Hanoi while they’re there so they can soak up as much as much of Vietnamese life and culture as possible.

It was an emotional good bye when they left, but all of us remaining behind have got our own challenges to overcome for the next two weeks as we pull together and double up to make sure nothing slips while they’re away.

From everyone at Access Point we wish, chúc may mắn to the team and not to worry, the lights will still be on when you get back.
